Broward County and the "flakka" epidemic

I have observed an alarming number of cases of people who are being arrested for possession of PVP of "flakka" in Broward County.  In  August 10, 2015, the Sun Sentinel reported that Broward County leads the nation in the number of individuals who have been arrested and charged with possession of PVP or "flakka".   I myself have observed an alarming increase in the number of people who are regularly being arrested for this drug.  It seems to me that more people are getting arrested for possession and trafficking in PVP or "flakka" than cocaine, MDMA, heroine and methamphetamine combined these past several months.  There is more and more evidence in the news regarding the harmful physical and psychological effect of this drug, but despite this, use appears to be on the increase particularly in Broward County.  Shockingly the Sun Sentinel reported that Broward County last year had 55% of all of the flakka cases in the State of Florida and the 477 flakka cases in 2014 was more than double the amount of cases than that of the county with the second highest rate of flakka cases in the nation.  As a criminal defense attorney, my primary objective is always to do whatever is possible to protect my client's criminal records.  The main reason for this is so that the individual is free to pursue future job and educational opportunities unhindered.  One of the biggest problems with PVP or "flakka" is that is can cause violent and dangerous behavior which can jeopardize not only an individual's health and safety but it can lead to encounters with law enforcement which will often imperil the future job and educational opportunities which I fight to preserve.
If someone is using PVP or "flakka" I feel like I am just as likely to have them in my office facing a violent felony as a drug charge.  Flakka is a drug which causes erratic and often violent behaviors which can endanger both the individual as well as those around him or her.  If you or someone that you care about is using "flakka", please think about the fact that "flakka" or PVP endangers a person's future opportunities to provide for themselves and their families as well as their physical health.  If you or a love one had been arrested for possession of PVP or flakka, please do not hesitate to contact my office as soon as possible so that work can begin on putting this incident behind you.
